What is a gift allocation?
The transfer by Stewardship of a gift or balances from a giver’s account to the account of an approved recipient.
What is a grant?
The transfer of funds by Stewardship from a recipient’s Stewardship account to their bank account.
How often can I receive grants from Stewardship?
For administrative efficiency Stewardship can distribute grants on a weekly or monthly basis.
You can still choose to withdraw the allocated and cleared funds that are in your account in between the regular grant dates if you need the funds urgently.
If I am working overseas how often can I receive grants?
We can distribute grants on a weekly basis by sterling credit transfer to an overseas bank account. Your bank may apply their own charges. As a result, we may delay sending gifts until the account balance reaches a minimum value.
Will you tell me when new gifts are allocated to my account?
Yes, we will continue to let you know each time a supporter expresses a preference for a gift to be allocated to you. You can view a range of information about your allocated gifts using the reports available online.
How should we advise you of changes to our bank account?
You need to send us a letter confirming your new bank details. You should also enclose an original, pre-printed item of bank stationery (such as a paying-in slip).showing your new bank details
Will you send me a regular statement of my allocated gifts?
We do not routinely send statements to recipients, but you can see a wide range of reports relating to the gifts allocated to you when you use the online service.
When you receive a grant you will be able to see a complete breakdown of the allocated gifts that are included in that grant.
If a supporter has expressed a preference that I receive the reclaimed tax, when will I receive it?
Tax is reclaimed from HM Revenue and Customs on a weekly basis and can normally take between 6 and 8 weeks to process. The reclaimed tax will immediately be allocated to your recipient account as soon as we receive it.
Can supporters make a gift by credit or debit card?
Supporters can make gifts by credit or debit card but online only.
I am a Christian worker. What do I do if my situation changes?
It is important that you contact us immediately as we may need to review your eligibility to receive grants from us.
Can gifts be allocated to specific projects such as a campaign or building fund?
Yes, churches and charities can set up projects; they can be set up through the online service.
Can payments be made to separate bank accounts for specific projects?
Yes they can.
What does Stewardship charge me for having a recipient account?
We don\'t charge recipients a fee directly. Membership fees are charged to givers and where possible these are deducted from the reclaimed tax which we receive through the Gift Aid scheme.
Do supporters have to have an account with Stewardship?
Yes they do – to manage their giving and so that there is a clear record of tax reclaimed under the Gift Aid scheme.
I am studying theology but not at a Bible college. Am I eligible to receive grants from Stewardship?
Unfortunately in order to receive grants from Stewardship you must be studying full-time at a recognised UK Bible college.
Will reclaimed tax always follow an allocated gift?
Not always. Some givers prefer to retain any reclaimed tax in their giving account. Some gift allocations, such as vouchers, will therefore have no reclaimed tax to follow.
